Important update: As of November 1, 2023, USCIS changed the validity rules for Form I-693. A completed and signed Form I-693 no longer has an expiration date and is valid indefinitely, as long as USCIS receives it while you are in the United States. You can complete your immigration exam now without worrying about the form expiring before your green card interview.

When Should You Schedule Your Immigration Exam?

If applying from within the United States (adjustment of status): We recommend completing the medical exam and submitting Form I-693 together with your green card application (Form I-485). This is the option preferred by USCIS because it avoids delays. If you wait and bring your exam results only to your green card interview, USCIS may issue a Request for Evidence (RFE) that slows down your case.
